Electric fires provide the perfect alternative to gas, wood or multifuel. They are available in a variety of formats including stoves, fireplace settings and free-standing fire baskets. In general, heat output is a maximum of 2kW, which is lower than that available from most fossil-fuelled appliances. Most electric fires have coal-effect, thermostatic adjustment, and often a realistic flame effect.
